🌟 John Stewart Dethridge
Engineer John Stewart Dethridge helped develop the first Eildon Reservoir, part of a career devoted to Victoria’s water infrastructure. Rising from building work to senior engineering responsibilities, he became a commissioner of the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission. His ingenuity also produced water-measuring equipment and movable weirs on the Murray. The original Eildon structure was later submerged by the much larger dam. His local legacy therefore lies partly out of sight, beneath a reservoir that continued the water-storage work with which he was associated.
